First round of candidates will be interviewed by Artistic Director between July 5-8, 2022.
Final round of candidates will be interviewed by BCL Managing Team between July 11 - 15, 2022.
Final candidates will observe a class and teach an audition class between July 18-22, 2022.
Offer extended to final candidate by July 25, 2022.
Fall classes begin September 7, 2022.

* This will be an interim, three-quarter-time position for the 2022/23 season with the potential, in time, to increase to a full time School Manager in the 2023/24 season.

POSITION OVERVIEW | INTERIM SCHOOL MANAGER

Ballet Co.Laboratory’s Interim School Manager works in conjunction with the Artistic Director & Managing Director to lead the artistic and administrative duties for The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory. The Interim School Manager curates curriculum, manages school staffing/scheduling, builds enrollment, oversees student involvement in productions, and serve as the lead communicator for all school activities. The Interim School Manager also works with the Performance Ensemble Director and Outreach Manager in creating community performances with student dancers.

The Interim School Manager must commit to 16 hours of administrative work per week. In addition, the Interim School Manager must commit to teaching a minimum of 10 hours per within The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory, hold a leadership role at all Ballet Co.Laboratory productions incorporating student dancers, and lead 8-10 staff/parent meetings throughout the year.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct school by setting procedures/timelines/schedules, lead trainings, organize meetings, and implement plans with teaching staff, students, and parents for school programs in collaboration with Artistic Director.

• Lead ongoing development of school curriculum/syllabus encompassing both short and long-term artistic goals for the school of BCL.

• Create engaging recruitment strategies for new student enrollment while helping to track growth and goals across the school.

• Create and implement the process for student evaluation and placement. Create tools for teachers to appraise student progress and a process for students to develop individual goals.

• Coordinate semesterly conferences between teachers-students-parents and assist teaching staff in prepping materials to measure/share student progress.

• Manage student registration process and build systems to collect needed data for budgeting and funding with Technical Communications Administrator.

• Serve as the communication bridge to parents, teachers, and students and oversee communications of Lead Teaching Artists.

• Manage all Teaching and Accompanist Artist schedule with Artistic Director and organize communication in schedule shifts and substitute needs. Should a sub be needed last minute, the Interim School Manager is required to teach the class themselves.

• Assist Artistic Director in management, mentorship, and communication within Trainee Program.

• Participate in the selection process as well as the allocation of scholarship and stipend awards as part of BCL’s Scholarship Committee.

• Write copy and select images for monthly parent newsletter which outlines upcoming rehearsal schedules and other important School information.

• Lead and coordinate the Mentorship Program by assessing and creating plans surrounding the artistic development and wellness for the whole student including technical skills, performance opportunities, psychological and physical wellness, career goals, and adjunct training (BCL’s Beyond the Mirror program).

• Solicit and articulate feedback from School parents and students including the creation of an annual survey.

• Post and keep up to date the Parent Facebook Page (in-studio topics).

• Oversee all marketing efforts and events as they relate to the school with Communications Manager.

• Assist the Managing Director with marketing, fundraising, outreach, and audience engagement tasks/events that include/impact School involvement.

• Oversee Technical Communications Assistant with Artistic Director and Managing Director.

• Maintain list of school demographics and up to date budgets for school.

• Create, promote, and lead in-studio school events such as Open Houses, Parent Observation Weeks, and Student Open Rehearsals with Artistic Director.

• Ensure that all School activities align with BCL’s mission, vision, and core values.

• Ensure BCL’s School pages of the website are engaging and current.

• Keep a pulse on the education efforts of like organizations across the country.

• Evening and weekend work will be required.

• Other duties as assigned by the Directors.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

• Bachelor’s degree or at least five years of relevant experience.

• 12+ years of ballet training from a classical ballet school & previous Company dancer.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, excite, engage, and motivate students, staff, parents, and volunteers.

• Superior communication and interpersonal skills; effectiveness in written and oral presentation.

• Mature judgement with the ability to maintain confidential information.

• Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple deadlines at the same time.

• The ability to remain calm under pressure, think critically, and possess problem solving skills.

• Must embrace working in an artistic, collaborative, and fast-paced work environment.

• Proven experience in setting and achieving enrollment goals.

• Past experience in curriculum development.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, MindBody, Constant Contact, Zoom, and social media platforms.
