Laura Pratt

Laura Pratt has been a performer, teaching artist and choreographer for over a decade. In 2020, Laura received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in ballet. Her thesis, entitled Dancing Beyond the Patriarchy: Ballet's Capacity to be Reimagined for a New Generation of Women, explores ballet's potent capacity to instigate social change. She seeks to share the atavistic power of dance with everyone she meets! Laura's dance experience includes being a member of Utah Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet, and Oklahoma Ballet Festival. Laura has performed many roles in various classical and contemporary ballets including Swan Lake, Giselle, Balanchine's Serenade and Concerto Barocco, and Opaque, Unfazed by Trey McIntyre, and Moonlight by Ilya Kozadayev, among others. Her choreographic work has been selected to be presented at University of Oklahoma's Young Choreographer's Showcase several years in a row. In 2019, Laura's choreography, Duet for Kieran and Micah, was selected to represent OU at the American College of Dance Association's Regional choreographic competition. Laura received the majority of her formative training with Carolyn Glasgow, and spent summers training at Kansas City Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Ballet West, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and BODYTRAFFIC in Los Angeles. Most recently in 2022 Laura traveled to New York City to continue pursuing her training in Countertechnique. Guided by her pedagogical principles, Laura never ceases to be a student herself. Laura has been teaching in the Twin Cities area since 2019 with TU Dance, and is excited to join Ballet Co.Laboratory's faculty this season!
