Tiptoe like a butterfly, gallop like a unicorn! Dancers will be introduced to the basic concepts of rhythm and movement using creative games that expand their individual creativity using basic ballet techniques as a foundation. Listening skills, group socialization, and the development of large and fine motor skills are just a few elements dancers will learn in this six-week session. Each class progresses through simple exercises rooted in classical ballet technique, followed by reading a fairy tale, and making that story come to life through our dancing!

Dancers must be able to use the bathroom without any assistance.

Dancers will focus on ballet positions, textures of movement and musicality to prepare for the next steps in their dancing journey. Dancers continue to discover their dance expression while developing more ballet technique including barre work and more nuanced musicality. Dancers will continue to develop coordination and a basic understanding of positions of the feet and arms. Each class progresses through simple exercises rooted in classical ballet technique, followed by reading a fairy tale, and making that story come to life through our dancing!

SUMMER SHOWING

A ballet workshop geared towards young dancers interested in studying ballet and complementary dance more in depth during the summer. A 60-minute ballet class will be followed by a 30-minute class of a different dance genre including modern and jazz. Dancers will focus on ballet positions, proper alignment and musicality over the course of 4 weeks. Dancers may wear leotard and tights or any clothing they feel comfortable moving in. Dancers should wear ballet flat shoes.
