Final candidates will be interviewed between June 27 - July 1, 2022.
Final candidates will observe a class and teach an audition class between July 6 - 20, 2022.
Classes begin September 7, 2022.

POSITION OVERVIEW | TEACHING ARTIST
The Teaching Artists at The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory instruct, mentor, empower, and inspire every student with excellent, individualized, and healthy dance training using BCL curriculum/ syllabus. The classes taught at The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory are in-studio, but may have a virtual or hybrid component as COVID-19 continues to evolve. Teaching Artist is overseen by the School Manager, Artistic Director and Managing Director.
Teaching Artists are paid hourly. All Teaching Artists take part in 4-6 mandatory, paid Staff Meetings throughout the year. Teaching Artists in the Pre-Professional Program of The School of Ballet Co.Laboratory also meet monthly with the Lead Teaching Artist of their Level to align with the Curriculum and syllabi of the School.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• To prepare and teach classes in alignment with BCL’s mission, vision, and core values.
• To prepare and teach classes in alignment with BCL’s School curriculum/syllabus.
• To serve as the communication bridge between students/parents to Lead Teaching Artist or School Studio Manager when necessary.
• Attend and participate in BCL Staff meetings.
• To serve all students equally in classes.
• Attend check-ins/evaluations with School Management Team twice a year to continue growth as a Teaching Artist and organization.
• To check email at least once a week and respond to BCL communications in a timely manner.
• Stay up to date on organization events and announcements by reading all electronic and print BCL communications.
• Keep a pulse on like dance school organizations across the country to inspire your teaching and continued education.
• Evening and weekend work will be required.
• Other duties as requested by Directors and/or Managers.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
• Bachelor’s degree in dance or ballet teaching certification/experience of 5+ years.
• Candidate must have previous professional ballet training. Professional ballet performance experience is also preferred.
• Mature judgement with the ability to maintain confidential information.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, excite, engage, and motivate students.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills over email, phone and in person.
• Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
• The ability to remain calm under pressure, think critically, and possess problem solving skills.
• Must embrace working in an artistic, collaborative, and fast-paced work environment.
